Knowing God - John 16:33 part 2
(fp)
We MAY have peace. It still isn't a guarantee. But the alternative is not acceptable. The only way we can overcome all the things in bold above is through Christ. We just have to get out of his way first. Easier said than done.
Jesus said,
In this world you will have trouble.
In me you may have peace.
John 16:33
Two contrasting words: "trouble vs. peace."
They come from two contrasting sources: "in this world" vs. "with Jesus."
And "vs." is, of course, a sporting term. It's a game, a contest, a struggle, a war.
With Jesus ending this full verse with the words, "Take heart! I have overcome the world," take a look at what Jesus can overcome for you ...
hatred LOVE
sin FORGIVENESS
doubt FAITH
despair HOPE
darkness LIGHT
sadness JOY
fear COURAGE
bondage FREEDOM
greed CHARITY
curse BLESSING
foolishness WISDOM
guilt GRACE
arrogance HUMILITY
sickness HEALTH
Pick one of those pairs today, and ask Christ to defeat the lies of the world and grant you peace.
In Christ's Love,
a guy who cut and paste today's full verse
so you'd hear Christ's main point in a new way.
Here's the full verse:
"I have told you these things,
so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world."
----------------------------We MAY have peace. It still isn't a guarantee. But the alternative is not acceptable. The only way we can overcome all the things in bold above is through Christ. We just have to get out of his way first. Easier said than done.
