Knowing God - Judges 2:10
(fp)
What are we doing? Letting our kids see us study the bible. Placing priority on praying, going to church, AWANA, memorizing scripture. Also - our actions are vital. They need to see us being compassionate, loving, caring, gentle. And as adults we need others to help us nurture our own faith - bible study, worship, accountability, prayer. I do not want my kids to be the generation that loses the church and faith in Christ.
that whole generation
was gathered to their ancestors,
and another generation grew up after them,
who did not know the Lord
or the work that he had done for Israel.
Judges 2:10
With God's help, Moses parted the Red Sea and led Israel toward the Promised Land. With God's help, Moses' successor, Joshua, "parted" the Jordan River and led Israel into the Promised Land. But when a generation grew up after them, how was it that they didn't know?
The church is always one generation from extinction. Therefore, it is the churches primary job to nurture the faith of children. And one way we do that is by nurturing the faith of adults. Kids copy what they see at home, and a vibrant, authentic faith tends to rub off.
No matter if you have kids or what age they are, what are you doing right now to pass on the faith to the next generation?
In Christ's Love,
a guy who has 200 kids
(either Mary Louise has been busy
or I care about everyone of the kids in church!)
