Knowing God - 2 Corinthians 7:5

(from Pastor)

We were troubled on every side.
2 Corinthians 7:5
Being a missionary was hard -- often dangerous -- work. In the rest of this verse, the Apostle Paul says, "When we came into Macedonia ... we had fighting on the outside and fear on the inside."
Let me tell you a secret. You are a missionary. If you bear Christ's name, the world is in many ways set against you. You must battle with the sins of the world -- including fightings on the outside. And you must battle with the temptations toward worldliness -- including anger, pride, gluttony, laziness, envy, lust, and fear on the inside.
Name your greatest trouble ... and ask for the God who delivered the Israelites through the Red Sea to deliver you.
In Christ's Love,
a guy who's sometimes more tempted to call Domino's for delivery
than to truly call on the name of the Lord
-------------------------------------------
I've been calling. and calling.  As Americans, we don't face the oppression many in other countries face.   We don't fear for our very lives by bearing Christ's name.  However, we do face opponents.  People who will fight, argue, ignore us just because we are Christians.  And we are bombarded with new seemingly 'anti-christian' laws, 'separation of church and state', the anti-christian liberty union (ACLU).  All attacking from the external direction.

And inside we are battling our own past hurts, fears, wounds, that attack from the internal direction.  And we are truly 'troubled from every side.'  But God hasn't left us.  He is protecting us.  We just need to have faith, trust and believe...
