Knowing God - Luke 24:21

(from Pastor)

we had hoped that he
was the one to redeem Israel
Luke 24:21

Have you ever faced an awkward-in-between-time? Waiting for news from a biopsy, for example, is an awkward-in-between-time. A loved one not arriving home at the appointed hour can be an awkward-in-between-time.

Our lesson for today came in the most awkward of in-between times ever. It was after the cross (death) and before they knew about resurrection (no hope).

Have you ever lived between death and hopelessness?

Thank God for your faith ... and the power of the resurrection.

In Christ's Love,
a guy who would have been described in high school
as an awkward in-between kind of guy
----------------------------------------
"we had hoped" Pastor talks about in-between times.  We've had a few.  There was the lump that thankfully turns out to fibrocystic disease. There were the endometrial biopsies (yes - multiple) and the results from those.  But I see the line "we had hoped"  the disciples knew who this was.  Or thought they did.  Now it has been 3 days and nothing.  Maybe they were wrong. Their hopes were dashed.  What now?  having hope crushed can be devastating.  Having a baby die a mere hour before he was delivered from your womb will dash hopes in a fraction of a heartbeat.

But (Jesus allows this to be possible)

There does continue to be hope.  The disciples did see him again.  Mourning turns into dancing (or at least hopelessness dissolves into renewed hope).  Even when we see no hope - God gave us eternal hope.
