Knowing God - 2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the LORD is the Spirit, 

and where the Spirit of the LORD is, 

there is freedom. 

2 Corinthians 3:17

 

We are so fortunate to live in the USA where we can freely worship how and when we want to.  But are we truly free?  Is the spirit of the LORD here?  Today is the day for fireworks and bbq.  Celebrating our country's freedom from England. Do we take the time to reflect what it really means to have freedom?

 

When we were in China adopting the girl, a church met in our hotel.  To attend service, we had to show our passports to prove we were not Chinese citizens.  The spirit of the LORD was there ... we worshiped in a communist country where today people are still being jailed for their beliefs.  

 

True freedom doesn't have to be physical ... it is in our hearts.  If we have the holy spirit in us then we are free ... or we can be if we allow the spirit to work like he wants.  I know I have not allowed him to work and I have been held captive by my own unforgiveness,  stubbornness, pride, grief, humanness ...

But God wants us to be truly free.  To let his spirit live in us. guide us. comfort us. love us. 

... a gal who longs to find true freedom ...
