Knowing God - Psalm 118:24
(from Pastor)
As the wife of one who paid to get tortured at a The Military College of South Carolina and then went on to serve 20 years as an officer in the USAF - there will be many long days - but remember to rejoice in all the days the Lord has made ... We live in a country where we can feel peace about joining the military for our amazing country.
Thank you Jay for continuing what others started before you! Go in peace ... serve the Lord.
This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
Thank you for your prayers this week.
They worked ... and God is very, very good!
Jay woke up Thursday morning very peaceful. Almost joyful! He said, "I tried to prepare myself for every emotion that I could feel on this day. I never anticipated peaceful!"
At 6:15am -- and in just a matter of a few quick moments -- they processed him through his initial line and into the academy. For the next twelve hours they loaded him down with uniforms and gear, shaved his head, and taught him to march, yelling at him a lot in the process.
"It was the longest day of my life," said Jay when we saw him at 6:15pm to say goodbye. He had just been sworn into the Navy, and when he found us, he had a huge grin on his face. I guess that's what happens when you're doing what God has called you to do!
And when you're doing what God is calling you to do, it is always "the day that the Lord has made!"
Many people have asked us if we cried that day. Between Jay's peace and your prayers, it was a day of rejoicing instead of tears. God is very, very good, indeed!
In Christ's Love,
a thankful dad
(and thanks, Dad)
