Knowing God - Titus 3:5

(from Pastor)

he saved us ...
according to his mercy ...
through the ... renewal
by the Holy Spirit.
Titus 3:5

There's a lot of dots in that passage above. Why? Because, one, these few words are the heart of the message. And two, because my devotion today is not much more than Paul's full text that he wrote to Titus!

Here's what Paul wrote ... "3:3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, despicable, hating one another." Go ahead ... you might as well list any other sin!

"3:4 But ..." Don't you love that word?!! "3:3 We ... were once ... disobedient ... 4 BUT when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us."

Who saved us? HE did -- not WE did. "5 HE saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that WE had done, but according to HIS mercy." And he gives us two signs of this grace: "water" and "renewal" Indeed, his salvation comes "through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit."

Can you think of a sin that used to consume you? Can you celebrate now the renewal that has come through the Holy Spirit?

Can you think of a sin that still consumes you? Start praying for the Holy Spirit to fill you, cleanse you, free you, and renew you. That's God's great desire.

In Christ's Love,
a guy who wants more
of the Holy Spirit
----------------------------------------------
Saved because of HIS mercy.  I am still waiting for the renewal. I have seen bits of renewal. But there needs to be much more. Still waiting ...
