Knowing God - Hosea 2:16 part 2

(from Pastor)

On that day, says the Lord,
you will call me, "My husband,"
and no longer will you
call me, "My Baal."
Hosea 2:16

Yesterday, we did the first half of this verse. Today, turning to the second half, we ask: What does "no longer will you call me, 'My Baal'" mean?

Baal in general means "master" or (lower case) "lord." In more specific terms, it generally refers to the lower case fertility gods that the pagans worshiped in and around the land of Canaan.

How many of us have a lower case lord (or priority) that competes for attention with our Upper Case God?

How many of us are, indeed, married to a habit ... or a desire ... or an addiction.

How many of us are married to a way of thinking -- and of justifying behaviors -- that are not of God.

God wants us to be married to him! It's heart. It's personal. It's relationship. It's love. It's an engraved invitation.

God longs for "that day." Do you?

In Christ's Love,
a guy who needs to  be  long
(get it?!)
------------------------------
Husband - more of a partner. Baal - a master, god.  God wants to walk beside us...as a spouse does. Have a true relationship with him.  He will heal us from our hurts, habits and hangups, but we have to not just bow to him. We need to have a true relationship with him.
